Our History


The village of Coal Run was incorporated in 1963. The founding trustees numbered 13, along with 2 marshals and one judge.  Their initiative paved the way for thousands of individuals and families to find a home among our green pastures and rolling hills. Through the years we've expanded our amenities and improved our services, while still retaining the charm and family values that makes our town such a wonderful place to live. Coal Run Village is conveniently located in Pike County, Kentucky, home to nearly 2,000 people and hundreds of businesses, services and restaurants located primarily on both sides of U. S. Highway 23. We're proud members of the Kentucky League of Cities. Pike County Tourism and Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Our ever-growing population is home to Post 9 of the Kentucky State Police, four large shopping centers; Weddington Square, Weddington Plaza, Crossroads Plaza, and K-Mart Plaza. The citizens of Coal Run Village and Pike County enjoy the addition of a large medical plaza, several banks and a newly created city park.
